from concept to shelf: how we produce your packaging

OUR PROCESS

We'll never just hit "print" when you send us your artwork. Our pre-press team inspects all input files and makes the necessary updates to assure everything is printed properly. Once inspected, cleaned, and approved by our team, we send the files back to you for signature approvals before ever beginning our production run.

The journey of a coffee bag:

8 steps from idea to shelf - design lead in, include proofs and mockups available
  1. 1

    Pre-press & color separation

Artwork is prepped for industrial printing; every color isolated and planned before engraving.
  2. 2

    Color approval

GMG-calibrated proofs matched against Pantone standards before anything is engraved.
  3. 3

    Cylinder engraving

Custom copper-and-chrome cylinders laser-engraved per color, then cured and test-proofed.
  4. 4

    Press setup & printing

Cylinders mounted, film extruded and formed, test prints run before full production begins.
  5. 5

    Lamination & pouching

Film laminated for strength and barrier protection, then formed, sealed, and fitted with accessories.
  6. 6

    Quality control

Counts, print alignment, accessory placement, and seals inspected against spec.
  7. 7

    Packing & global shipping

Cartons palletized, containerized, and shipped, clearing customs on arrival in the U.S.
  8. 8

    Warehousing & delivery

Inventoried at PCKG warehouses, then picked, packed, and shipped to the customer.

PRINTING METHODS WE USE

  • Rotogravure

Engraved steel cylinders for long runs needing tight color control and repeatability.

    Best for: high-volume flexible packaging

  • flexographic

Flexible photopolymer plates pressed onto film, fast to swap between jobs.

Best for: PE, PP, PET & laminated structures

  • Offset

Image transferred to a rubber blanket first, for extremely consistent, high-volume results.

    Best for: cartons, labels, sleeves

  • DIGITAL

No plates or cylinders needed. Fast setup and versioning for shorter runs.

Best for: new SKUs, limited editions, variable data
